Food Handling Practice of Culinary Merchants in Medan, Indonesia

Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) estimates that over 20 million incidences of poisoning occur yearly in Indonesia. In 2019, food was the cause 17 out 154 incidents Medan. This study aims to picturize safety practice among handlers at culinary merchants. Using a descriptive, cross-sectional study, total 52 samples were given survey with 35 questions regarding characteristic samples, knowledge, management attitude, practice. The data collected 73,1 % food-handlers had average knowledge level safety, 92.3% good attitude management, 53,8% practice, 51.9% behavior management. There are still chances for cross contamination occurs. order ensure sold products, handling training rules should be prioritized advocated.
